Background
Detroit Underground is an experimental music and design collective from the United States. Since 1997, the label has connected electronic avant-garde, visual art, and fashion. At its core stands the fusion of creativity, technology, and a distinct aesthetic. Our task was to translate this vision into a digital production process and redefine how merch imagery comes to life.
Summary
We were commissioned to build a production pipeline that automatically places products on generated models in defined environments. The workflow we created enables the production of complete scenes with models, lighting, and surroundings, static or animated.

We developed a consistent model and surrounding style that translates Detroit Underground's aesthetic and character. Additionally, isolated 3D mockups were created for uses including archival purposes.

At the core of the project is an augmented AI architecture where multiple systems for model generation, style transfer, quality control, and animation, interact with each other. The process learns through feedback loops but remains editable. Style, environment, and format can be adjusted. "Human in the loop" ensures brand precision and creative control.

Multiple specialized models work collaboratively, aligning results with brand and style standards. In DU's case, as support and extension of human capabilities (creative direction, curation, and QA).

Flat-to-Scene Conversion
Flat product shots become realistic 3D scenes and animated looks—without studio or camera.

Human × Machine Collaboration
Curatorial input and control remain with the team (augmented), AI delivers speed (artificial), humans provide direction.

Development of model and surrounding style, building templates and presets. Creation of digital model assets, 3D mockups, and animated scenes.

Training and Governance
Definition of roles in the human-in-the-loop process, training the DU team, pipeline documentation.

    DU can now transform merchandise from flat product images into complete, brand-coherent scenes. Flexible, fast and scalable. A learning system that systematizes creativity without constraining it.

    BRAND ALIGNMENT
    The AI pipeline reinforces Detroit Underground's hybrid approach: music label, design studio, and digital production space in one. The new process creates speed, flexibility, and creative control. This is a blueprint for automated brand aesthetics in the commerce of the future.
